Gate News message, April 18 — The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued General License No. 135 on April 17, authorizing the handling of certain energy transactions involving Russia that are affected by sanctions. The license permits shipments, sales, “safe harbor” arrangements (safe harbor), emergency repairs, and environmental impact mitigation measures for Russian crude oil and petroleum products that were scheduled before April 17, Eastern Time. All authorized transactions must be completed before May 17.
This temporary authorization allows for orderly management of goods in transit while maintaining compliance with U.S. sanctions legal frameworks.
