Gate News Nachrichten, 19. März 2025: Der Turing-Preis wird an den amerikanischen IBM-Forscher Charles H. Bennett und den Professor Gilles Brassard von der Universität Montreal, Kanada, verliehen. Die beiden gelten als Pioniere der Quanteninformationstheorie. Ihr bekanntestes Ergebnis, das BB84-Protokoll, ist das weltweit erste Quanten-Schlüsselverteilungsprotokoll (QKD) und markiert die Geburt der Quantenkryptographie.

Die Zusammenarbeit begann 1979, als Brassard Bennett vorschlug, mithilfe der Quantenmechanik “fälschungssichere Banknoten” zu entwickeln. Mit dem rasanten Fortschritt der Quantencomputing-Technologie stehen traditionelle Public-Key-Kryptosysteme vor großen Herausforderungen. Quantenkommunikation (QKD) und Post-Quanten-Kryptographie (PQC) sind zu den beiden zentralen Säulen geworden, um die Sicherheit zukünftiger digitaler Kommunikation zu gewährleisten.
