House Sends ROAD To Housing Bill For Trump’s Signing

  • House Speaker Mike Johnson said Congress will send the ROAD to Housing Act to President Donald Trump on Monday.
  • The bill aims to provide Americans with access to affordable housing and to ensure a ban on CBDC until 2030.

US House Speaker Mike Johnson confirmed that they will transmit the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act to the White House on Monday. It follows President Donald Trump’s recent cancellation of its signing, unless Congress agrees on his priority proposals.

ROAD to Housing Act’s Transmittal to the Oval Office

“It’s passed by both chambers,” said Johnson in an interview on Fox News last Sunday. “I’m sending it to him on Monday, and it will become law.”

The House Speaker is confident that the President will sign the legislation into law. After all, it’s the realization of his campaign promise to Americans since the 2024 election.

Trump had refused to sign the bill earlier, using it as a bargaining chip to pressure Congress into prioritizing the SAVE America Act. If passed, it would require voters to provide a valid ID and proof of citizenship at polling stations. Additionally, it strictly limits eligibility for mail-in ballots.

Proponents of the SAVE America Act argued that the US has been lagging in enforcing basic and necessary election protections for citizens compared to other nations. To date, it largely relies on self-attestation for citizenship, unlike India and Brazil, which maintain biometric databases linked to voter IDs. Moreover, it cited a lack of basic chain-of-custody protections in justifying the need for paper ballots.

The move is in response to growing concerns over some states allowing foreign voters in polling stations to significantly influence election results, which especially favors pro-mass immigration candidates. Trump considered the issue a “National Emergency” as the US midterm election closed in.

Why the New Housing Bill Matters

The ROAD to Housing Act aims to provide Americans with access to affordable housing. It includes expanding financing opportunities, lowering rents, and reducing bureaucratic red tape in the sector.

In a major stretch, it also carried a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) ban until 2030. It would prevent the US Federal Reserve from creating or issuing a CBDC in the current decade, allaying fears about its potential use for surveillance and control over people’s finances.
