AMD CEO Dr. Su Zifeng: AI agents are driving huge demand for computing power during the AI cycle and significantly boosting CPU market growth expectations
BlockBeats News, May 6th, AMD CEO Su Zifeng said in an interview with CNBC that AI Agents are driving huge demand for computing power throughout the AI cycle and significantly boosting growth expectations for the CPU market. Companies have begun to truly see the value of AI for business, and adoption rates are rapidly increasing. In addition to AI accelerators, demand for CPUs is also strong because the new generation of AI Agents requires more general computing capabilities to support.
She pointed out that in the past, the market generally believed that the demand ratio between CPUs and GPUs was about 1:4 or even 1:8, but now it is close to 1:1. AMD previously estimated in November 2025 that the annual growth rate of the addressable CPU market would be about 18% to 20%, but it has now been revised upward to over 35%, and it is expected that by 2030, the CPU market size will exceed $120 billion. Su Zifeng stated that the practicality and commercialization speed of AI are accelerating faster than six months ago, which also validates AMD’s long-term outlook on AI.
