According to reports from Turkish Anadolu Agency and other media outlets, the claim that former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was assassinated, reported by Iranian media on March 1, is false. A confidant close to Ahmadinejad, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, “I am in contact with him, and he is doing well. Yesterday (February 28), a building related to his security personnel was struck. Three of his bodyguards—all members of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—were confirmed dead. However, his residence was not affected; it is about 100 meters away from the targeted building and was not the intended target.” Currently, Iran has not released any official information regarding Ahmadinejad’s condition.
