Taolin: Tesla China's AI Training Center is now operational, and its computing power can meet current demands.
Tesla Vice President Tao Lin stated today that Tesla will actively participate in the Chinese market to support autonomous driving and related projects, but currently cannot provide a specific timeline for deployment.
She revealed that, regarding autonomous driving and AI application scenarios in China, Tesla has independently invested in and is using an AI training center in China to deploy local training capabilities for Tesla AI. Tao Lin did not disclose the computing power of the training center, only saying that its capacity meets current needs.
In January, Elon Musk revealed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that Tesla’s FSD (Full Self-Driving) is expected to be approved in China as early as February, potentially close to the approval timeline in Europe. However, an informed source told China Daily that this information is false.
IT House notes that due to stricter safety regulations and a more decentralized regulatory system, Tesla’s progress in deploying FSD in Europe is significantly slower than in the U.S. The Dutch vehicle management agency RDW previously stated that a decision is expected in February. Tesla said that once the Netherlands approves, other EU countries can follow suit, allowing the system to go online before official approval within the EU.
