In the past few years, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has been known for its enforcement actions, with a "prosecute first, explain later" approach that has left many project teams walking on thin ice. Now, if the chairperson admits that losses have an impact, it means that the balance between regulatory costs and market vitality is being reevaluated.
The true shift is not in speeches but in detailed regulations: Are certain tokens clearly classified as securities? Is the compliance application process being simplified? Is there room for innovation through regulatory sandboxes? If the answers become clearer over time, that’s evidence of a change in the wind.
The market won't skyrocket because of a single statement, but it will raise its valuation center as regulatory certainty increases. Clear regulations give capital the confidence to invest long-term.
