[Caixin] In 2025, Shenzhen’s regional GDP is approximately 3.87 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%. Considering external environment and Shenzhen’s actual situation, the city expects a GDP growth rate of 5% in 2026. During the Shenzhen “Two Sessions” held on February 9, Mayor Qin Weizhong delivered the government work report, mentioning the above targets.

In the mainland city GDP rankings, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou have consistently occupied the top four spots. Starting from 2024, Chongqing’s GDP surpassed Guangzhou, ranking fourth. According to official statistics from various regions, in 2025, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, and Guangzhou achieved GDP of 5.67 trillion yuan, 5.21 trillion yuan, 3.38 trillion yuan, and 3.20 trillion yuan respectively, with growth rates of 5.4%, 5.4%, 5.3%, and 4.0%. This means that Shenzhen’s total economic output in 2025 still lags behind Shanghai and Beijing by more than 1 trillion yuan, but its GDP growth rate has surpassed other major economic cities.
