Qingyang ranks among the million-kilowatt-level power energy bases

After Jiuquan and Baiyin, Qingyang officially becomes a 10-million-kilowatt-level power energy base. Recently, the State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company announced that by the end of February, Qingyang’s power grid had a total installed capacity of 10.3 million kilowatts, surpassing the 10-million-kilowatt mark for the first time. Among them, the installed capacity of new energy reached 8.3 million kilowatts (including energy storage).

Qingyang is rich in energy resources. In recent years, Qingyang has seized the opportunity of the “dual carbon” goals, accelerated the construction of the Longdong Integrated Energy and Chemical Base, and enhanced the advantages of combining new energy with big data, striving to build a power energy base. The country’s first large-scale integrated energy base “Wind, Solar, Fire, Storage” delivery project—Longdian to Shandong project—has been completed and put into operation, with Gansu power transmitted from Qingyang to Shandong. As a key supporting project of the Longdian to Shandong project, Huaneng Longdong Energy Base’s 6-million-kilowatt new energy project has been completed and connected to the grid. Qingyang has launched the country’s first green electricity aggregation service data center pilot project, supporting a new energy scale of 5 million kilowatts, with Qingyang’s green electricity supplied along the public grid to the “East Data West Computing” industrial park.

It is estimated that after the construction of the 10-million-kilowatt power energy base in Qingyang, approximately 24 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity can be transmitted annually to the central and eastern regions, saving about 7.2 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 19 million tons.

During the construction of Qingyang’s energy base, the State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company upgraded the backbone grid, ensuring smooth channels for power transmission and internal supply, transforming Qingyang’s power grid from “end, AC, ultra-high voltage” to “hub, hybrid AC/DC, UHV”; establishing a new energy system that promotes coordinated development of computing power and electricity, using green electricity aggregation mode to support the construction of the country’s first smart zero-carbon “East Data West Computing” industrial park; establishing an active service mechanism with “leadership responsibility + long-term project management” to ensure high-quality development of the energy base; strengthening dispatching and technological innovation, shifting from traditional “power supply guarantee” to a dual goal of “power supply guarantee + consumption promotion,” enhancing the level of renewable energy absorption.
