According to Reuters, on February 24th, Apple (AAPL.US) announced that it will shift some of its Mac Mini production from Asia to the United States, with a new manufacturing plant expected to launch in Houston later this year. This move is part of Apple’s latest investment plan in the U.S., following a commitment in August last year to invest $60 billion (about 420 billion RMB) in the country over the next four years.

In May last year, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose a 25% tariff on Apple products manufactured overseas.

Apple is also expanding its facilities in Houston, including building an advanced manufacturing training center, and has stated that its operations in Houston will create thousands of jobs. Despite this, Apple still manufactures most of its products, including iPhones and iPads, in Asia, mainly in China. However, in recent years, Apple has shifted some production to Vietnam, Thailand, and India.
