Iran announces Ali Reza Alavi as the jurist elected by the Guardian Council

The Central News Agency reporter learned on March 1st local time that Iran announced Ali Reza Alavi as the jurist elected by the Guardian Council. According to the Iranian Constitution, if the Supreme Leader dies, resigns, or is dismissed, the Expert Assembly of Iran should act promptly to designate and appoint a new Supreme Leader. Until the new Supreme Leader is appointed, the duties will be temporarily carried out by a committee composed of the President, the head of the judiciary, and a jurist elected from the Guardian Council.
