【Company Profile】

Sotherly Hotels Inc., founded in August 2004, is a self-advised real estate investment trust (REIT) that owns and manages full-service, mid-scale hotels located in primary and secondary markets across the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Southeast regions of the United States. These hotels operate under globally recognized international hotel brands such as Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Sheraton, and Holiday Inn.

The company began operations on December 21, 2004, completed its initial public offering, and subsequently acquired six hotel properties. Nearly all of the company’s assets and operational rights are held by its Operating subsidiary. As a REIT, the company is precluded from operating hotels directly. Therefore, the Operating subsidiary leases the hotels to MHI Hotel Shares Corporation’s subsidiary—MHI, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Operating company.
