Podcast producer Hsieh Meng-gong has a huge influence in Taiwan’s gaming community. Now, he is officially entering the game investment field. The game-focused venture capital firm he led, Xiao Nan Capital, has partnered with industry players such as crowdfunding platform Zeczec, game studio Mango Party, and paid tech newsletter Manbao. Together, they focus on Taiwan’s original game development teams with global competitiveness, planning to grow assets under management to NT$300 million by the end of 2026.

From Gaming Enthusiast to Investor: How Hsieh Meng-gong Started His Investment Journey

Hsieh Meng-gong was originally a typical game content creator, often sharing game insights and reviews on his podcast. He admits he was long caught in the “buy but not play” gaming trap until the release of Taiwan’s domestic martial arts RPG game “Living Hero,” which completely changed his mindset.

When “Living Hero” was launched, it faced market skepticism and criticism, even rumors of bankruptcy. As a gaming enthusiast, Hsieh not only supported the game on his influential platform but also proactively contacted the development team to ask if they needed investment or funding support. This experience inspired him to think: if quality Taiwanese original games don’t receive timely capital support, even the best works might fail in commercialization.

Based on this realization, Hsieh decided to shift from content creator to industry advocate, with nurturing high-quality domestic games as his new mission.

NT$300 Million Fund Launch, First Investment Projects Unveiled

Xiao Nan Capital’s core investment strategy focuses on supporting and incubating early-stage game teams. The fund members are seasoned gaming enthusiasts with expertise in both product development and capital operations, well-versed in the industry chain. The investment approach emphasizes discovering original content and technical teams with international potential, providing comprehensive support with funding and market resources to help startups smoothly transition from early R&D to commercialization.

The first batch of investments has been announced, including Cup Dog Games developing “Red Eye Rumble,” Benqi Games producing “Night Rampage,” and two other original projects at different development stages. These investments cover diverse game genres and technical directions, reflecting Xiao Nan Capital’s multi-dimensional investment layout.

Supported by Zeczec and Mango Party, Building a New Hub for Taiwan’s Gaming Ecosystem

The lineup of Xiao Nan Capital participants reflects Taiwan’s creative industry diversity. Since its founding in 2011, crowdfunding platform Zeczec has helped over 8,500 original projects raise more than NT$16 billion, accumulating rich experience in supporting creators. Zeczec co-founder Xu Zhen said that participating in Xiao Nan Capital aims to provide key support at earlier stages. When capital truly understands creators’ needs and accompanies development throughout, original content can grow more solidly.

Xiao Nan Capital also announced a long-term partnership with seasoned game incubator GameWorks. The two will collaborate deeply on project recommendations, development consulting, and market connections, forming a complete support system from game polishing, funding assistance, to publishing and promotion. This multi-party ecosystem means that game teams in Xiao Nan Capital’s portfolio will not only receive funding but also access experienced development guidance, marketing resources, and international distribution channels.
