European mining stocks hit a record high on Wednesday (February 25), surpassing the peak in 2008. This is the latest sign that the upward trend in European stocks has further expanded since last year.
Recently, the prices of precious metals and other metals have continued to rise, driving up the stock prices of mining companies. Since the beginning of this year, the STOXX Basic Resources sector has increased by 25%, nearly matching the total gain for 2025.
This is the second European industry sector this week to break a long-standing milestone. On Monday, the oil and natural gas index surpassed its record high from 2007.
