"Memecoin" as a label honestly feels outdated now. The term carries too much baggage and doesn't capture what's actually happening in this space anymore. We're dealing with projects that serve real purposes—whether that's empowering creators, fueling grassroots movements, or launching the next generation of startups. Yet the word still gets dismissed as pure novelty.
What we really need is terminology that reflects this evolution. Something that acknowledges the attention-driven mechanics (that's the honest part) while crediting the legitimate economic models and community value these projects can create. Right now, calling everything a "memecoin" feels like calling the internet a "fad." It misses the point entirely.
The infrastructure is there. Creators are building real use cases. Communities are organizing around shared interests and values. And yet we're still using language from 2021 to describe 2025 ecosystems. Time for an upgrade.
