Here's my take: tariffs can jumpstart demand for domestic manufacturing, sure. But that's only half the battle. The real bottleneck? It's the labor side. Getting skilled workers trained up for modern production lines is where it gets messy.
Look at the numbers—there are over 400,000 open manufacturing positions across the US right now. And yet they're not filling. That's not because of demand. The constraint is supply—we simply don't have enough trained workers with the right skillset. You can slap tariffs on imports all day, but if your domestic factories can't find people who know how to run advanced equipment, you're still stuck. That's the harder problem to solve.
