If you have 100,000 yuan and want to tenfold it in the crypto world, many people have thought about this idea. The most straightforward approach is to find an opportunity to go all-in once, aiming to reach 1 million in one shot. But those seasoned retail investors who actually make money rarely do this. They choose a different strategy.

First, turn 100,000 into 200,000, then push to 400,000, and finally head towards 800,000. After three cycles, they are close to reaching their target. It sounds slow, but in reality, it’s more reliable.

There’s a formula worth remembering: Return = Principal × Volatility × Time. Looking at it from another perspective, with 100,000 principal, a 100% increase in one year doubles it to 200,000 by year’s end. This is the approach of the conservative players.

Nowadays, many retail investors in the crypto space take extreme routes, always trying to quickly accumulate by amplifying volatility. Some dive into those constantly jumping altcoins, which can gain 50% in a day, but also get cut in half during dips. Others leverage up, magnifying small gains to make quick money — for example, a 5% increase in spot trading, multiplied ten times with leverage, results in a 50% profit, which sounds very tempting.

If you want to be more clear-headed, decide not to fall into the leverage trap, stick to spot trading, and avoid betting on volatility amplification, then only two paths remain: either use your judgment to pick coins that can rise, or be patient and let time compound your gains.
