Only after returning from Macau did I truly understand that saying — the Peninsula and Taipa Island are like two parallel worlds. One retains the warmth of everyday life, while the other shines brightly but is illusory.
The same logic applies to Web3 projects. Many people only see the shining names and towering scores on the leaderboard, but they fail to see the process of repeated refinement and gradual accumulation behind each genuine participant. Those numbers don't appear out of nowhere; they are the result of real engagement and enthusiasm.
Take the recent points ecosystem as an example. Some projects treat rankings as a game, desperately climbing the leaderboard and ladder. The second season's competition just started, and the competition is already fierce. An interesting phenomenon is that yap points actually can't reach 100. Behind what seems like a simple mechanism, there are actually complex trade-offs and designs.
What truly matters is not who stands at the top of the leaderboard, but how this ecosystem makes every participant feel that their contributions are recognized. Those who persist in supporting and slowly accumulating are actually the most stable foundation of the ecosystem.
