Bitmain adjusts ASIC miner portfolio: Strategic price reductions in focus
Current market conditions are forcing manufacturers of Bitcoin mining equipment to take drastic measures. Bitmain is responding with extensive price adjustments for its high-performance ASIC miners. The older models S19e XP Hydro and 3U S19 XP Hydro are now available from just 3 US dollars per terahash per second (TH/s), while the newer S19 XP+ Hydro system is priced at around 4 US dollars/TH/s.
Newer Generations: Higher Price Segments Despite Pressure
The S21 models show a different picture. The S21 immersion variants are offered at approximately 7 US dollars/TH/s, while the S21+ Hydro system is around 8 US dollars/TH/s. This differentiated pricing reflects the varying efficiency classes and performance profiles of the different ASIC miner generations.
Accompanying Service Offers: More Than Just Hardware
Alongside hardware prices, Bitmain has expanded its portfolio. The company now offers combined packages that include both mining hardware and professional hosting solutions. These integrated offers allow miners to optimize their operating costs through specialized electricity rates – available rates range between 0.055 and 0.07 US dollars per kilowatt-hour (kWh), plus a management fee of 0.003 US dollars.
Background: Pressure from Low Hash Prices
The reason for this comprehensive restructuring lies in the current weakness of the hash price, which is putting significant pressure on profit margins in Bitcoin mining. Through these bundle packages, Bitmain aims to more efficiently reduce its inventory and enable miners to operate more economically. This strategy demonstrates how ASIC miner manufacturers must adapt their business models to the volatile profitability of the mining sector.
