PepsiCo Deploys 41 Autonomous Trucks in U.S. First, Achieves 99% On-Time Rate

According to Wall Street Journal on June 8, PepsiCo deployed 41 Level 4 autonomous trucks for commercial logistics operations across the U.S., marking the first large-scale deployment by a major consumer goods company. The fleet operates primarily in Arizona with 35 trucks, while Texas and Arkansas each run 5 and 1 truck respectively, transporting products from factories to warehouses and retail locations.

The company partnered with autonomous truck maker Gatik on vehicles based on Isuzu commercial truck models. After beginning trials in 2022 with human monitors aboard, PepsiCo transitioned to fully driverless operations in June 2025. The autonomous fleet has maintained a 99% on-time arrival rate and reported zero accidents since deployment on public roads.
