Anthropic Reveals Claude Code Reshapes Internal Development: Nearly 50% of Coding Now Done on Mobile

On the one-year anniversary of Claude Code, Anthropic disclosed in an official interview that the platform is fundamentally transforming internal research workflows. Anthropic co-founder Boris Cherny and product lead Cat Wu revealed that new employees no longer seek guidance from colleagues; instead, Claude now leads them through all onboarding processes. Additionally, engineers report that approximately half of their daily coding work is now completed on mobile devices using Claude Code's new agent view, desktop application, and upgraded remote control features, enabling monitoring of concurrent agent runs from their phones.

Beyond workflow changes, Anthropic introduced a development philosophy called "context minimalism," which shifts away from complex prompt engineering and context management during frontier model development. Engineers now provide agents with minimal system prompts and tools, allowing models to autonomously find optimal solutions. The integration of AI is also blurring traditional roles: product managers and engineers increasingly collaborate as one team, with non-technical staff beginning to write code directly while engineers take end-to-end ownership of product development and compliance.
