Jinse Finance reported that on June 26, U.S. President Donald Trump told American farmers at a White House event on June 25 local time that the United States “has a new market about to open—that is Iran.” According to Trump, the U.S. will soon use unfrozen Iranian assets to buy wheat, soybeans, and corn from American farmers. Trump said, “They (Iran) are currently having a very difficult time with food supplies, and we’re going to take part of their money—we’ll spend it to buy wheat, soybeans, and corn, in large quantities; this process will start very soon. The scale will be huge.” The U.S. has recently repeatedly claimed that “Iran will use unfrozen funds to purchase American agricultural products,” while Iran has firmly denied it. On June 25, Iran’s chief negotiator and Speaker of the Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Kalibaf, reiterated that the U.S. claim that “Iran will use unfrozen assets to buy American agricultural products” is nothing but nonsense.
