Gate Layer Now Supports Gas-Free Swaps

1. What is Gas-Free Swap?

When making a Swap transaction, you normally need to pay gas fees using the native asset of the current network (e.g., ETH, BNB). If your wallet doesn’t have enough native assets, the swap transaction can’t be initiated or completed.

With our Gas Free feature, when your native asset balance is insufficient, we’ll automatically deduct a small portion of the token you’re swapping with to cover the required gas fee.

Currently, this feature is only available on Gate Layer. We’ll gradually expand support to more networks in the future. Before initiating a transaction, please check whether the interface indicates that tokens can be used to offset gas fees.

2. How to Use Gas-Free Swap

1. Go to the Swap page, select the tokens that you intend to swap on Gate Layer, and click [Swap]. A confirmation window will pop up.
2. If your wallet does not have sufficient GT balance, we will prioritize using the payment token to cover gas fees (you must have enough balance in the payment token to trigger this feature).
3. In the confirmation window, if you see the message “You don’t have enough network fees. The swap will use [Token] to cover the network fee.”, this means that the gas-free mode is available.
4. Click [Confirm] to approve the transaction in your wallet. You can then view the gas deduction details in your “Transaction History”.
5. Open the Swap Transaction History. Under the “Est. Network Fee” section, you will see “Network Fee Payment Details”.
6. Click to open a pop-up window that shows the specific deduction path, or click [Tx Hash] to check the on-chain record. Reminder: Gas-free deductions only apply to successful swaps. Failed swaps will not trigger any deduction.
